Beijing D2 - 东交民巷, DongJiaoMinXiang

Said we had enough of Hutongs?

But this is different, neighbourhood hutongs serves residential purpose and are narrow but DongJiaoMinXiang is an embassy zone since the Yuan Dynasty some 700 years, sited behind the Tian'anmen Square and is a wide, properly tree-lined road.

There are these century-old, western-style buildings that were most interesting to be found in Beijing ancient city. The 110 years old St. Michael's Church was regrettably closed for us to take a proper photo of its gothic structure.

In fact, much of the very significant European-styled architectural buildings were out of public sight, behind really high brick walls! - we could only see their intriguing roof top detail :(

We passes by prestigious watch makers Patek Philippe and Melchers who had both opened stores along here as well; took photos of whichever structures we could and hurried our way to the Tiananmen Square!
